Mat Certification
The NC Pilates Mat Instructor Certification program includes instruction of both classical & contemporary Pilates exercises. Our program is approximately 20 hours in length. The total cost of the program is $500 plus the amount of suggested text book.
Our 2010 Fall Mat Certification will be taught in three separate sessions, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (including a 30 lunch break). Each session costs $150 & students may pay as they go along through the program. To obtain certification, students must attend & participate in all three sessions as well as teach a one-hour Mat class & complete a written exam. The exam class & test cost an additional $50. Students may also register to attend sessions separately on an informational basis.
September 18 - Session I - Pilates Principles, Basic & Intermediate Level Exercises
October 16 - Session II - Skeletal & Muscular Anatomy Systems, Safe Movement Concepts & Mat on Equipment Lesson;
November 13 - Session III - Pilates Mat Master Class & Advanced Level Exercises.
Group training classes include both lecture & practical experience. An hour of credit is awarded for each hour of attendance & participation in scheduled classes. Daily practice of Pilates is essential to becoming a good instructor. Since our program allows for breaks between training classes, additional credit hours may be earned outside of scheduled meetings.
For the duration of the program, an hour of credit is awarded for each hour of self-study. Self-study may include attendance & participation in a Pilates props workshop; observation of Pilates classes; as well as practice teaching of mat Pilates exercises. Time spent reading Pilates books & viewing Pilates videos (other than our selected texts & videos) may also be submitted for self-study credit. To obtain certification, each student must maintain a detailed log of self-study hours for submission at the end of the exam.
The cost for selected text books is about $15. Selected training videos will be viewed together as a group during training sessions.
Congratulations to over 34 graduates from our Mat Certification programs!
